We have heard about Intelligent Quotient (IQ) all through our lives so far but do we know about another dimension called Cosmic Quotient (CQ) that is inherent in our lives?
Do we realize that we are bound by this quotient and it plays a major role in defining our outlook, our attitude and our life?
Let us look at what this CQ is. Going back to the creation of this universe, we are journey men in this universe identified as one of the species. A species who are the most advanced and also the most enlightened in God's creation. In grand scheme of things, we are the ones who are the most closest to realizing moksha or salvation.
As our shastras say, this world is permeated by Energy (Shakti) that is driving each and every aspect of it. There is a constant churning that is happening and no moment is the same in this Time-Space continuum. There are vibrations all across and we are born with an efficiency that tends to work at different levels for different persons. If we look at this in materialistic aspect we realize it as person's capability or aptitude. Now, when we realize that Universe is in Cosmos and Cosmos is the fabric that wraps around everything, we realize that each person has a different level of connectivity to the cosmic energy that surrounds us. This connectivity dictates a person's outlook, his perception and understanding of the secrets of the universe.
This connectivity is like an antenna that feeds the thoughts in a person and opens up more and more secrets or knowledge about Ananta Vishwam or the Cosmos.
Cosmic Quotient (CQ) is the capacity in a person to perceive this information.
As in the case of IQ, CQ too varies across each individual.
To take an analogy, as in the case of low IQ person, low CQ person has very low knowledge about the inner workings of the world.
Similarly a person with high CQ would have a very high understanding of the inner workings of the world.
Low CQ would entail a person to focus on all things materialistic and would think that nothing is important other than the things surrounding him.
As CQ grows, so does the understanding of the cosmos and dim view about the materials around the person. A Yogi or Rishi is an example of a high CQ.
CQ can constantly evolve in a person once a start is made and a conscious effort is made to seek the knowledge (Sadhana - Mantram, Japam,Dhyanam, Satsangatyam).
Fate as we call it, is a complex equation with fixed constants and dynamic variables.
Purva janma Punyam/Paapam are the fixed constants while the karma (actions) in this janma are the dynamic variables.
How a person evolves during this janma is only known to the Creator himself.
The CQ of a person keeps evolving based on the above equation that can guide the karma of this janma (birth). Inward journey of a man will continue to open up more avenues for exploration and each of those will in turn create more awareness about Cosmos which enhances the CQ of the person.
It goes without saying, that along the way, the secrets of nature and the power bestowed across the cosmos are revealed as a byproduct of a higher CQ.
Is there a relationship between IQ and CQ?
Does attaining higher CQ alters the IQ?
There is no definitive answer as IQ parameters could themselves be questioned if they are accurate.
Are there parameters to judge CQ?
This is a moot question as the concept of CQ is itself not tied to any judgement by outside world.
Why does it matter to talk or discuss about it?
As there is a aura attached to higher IQ, the society should pay attention to attaining higher CQ.
This is nothing new in our Sanatana Dharma where the focus is always on refinement across different Ashramas in life to look inside (atmavalokanam and antarmukha parignanam).
With the advent of modern lifestyle, coining a term, CQ (Cosmic Quotient), is to just package and pass on the same message.
Swasti!

IQ, EQ and CQ
It is interesting to note that the so called IQ and its judgement through certain parameters in all probability is incomplete, questioned about its true relevance and applicability to the outward actions or behavior, the CQ of a person will always make the person gravitate towards satva guna making him satva guna sampanna. The difference in the levels of CQ in early life could change drastically at a later point in time as compared to IQ.Is there a relationship between IQ and CQ?
Does attaining higher CQ alters the IQ?
There is no definitive answer as IQ parameters could themselves be questioned if they are accurate.
Any relationship with EQ?
In recent years there is lot of focus on EQ (Emotional Quotient) which describes the behavioral aspects of an individual. EQ will definitely help in the path for achieving higher CQ as it has some tools (self awareness/reflection and Control) which helps in this pursuit of connectivity to Cosmos.
